NPI Day 17

Posted: March 17th, 2009 under writing.
Tags: Aeriallas, book, Cirellio, Five Rings, NPI

WC: 834.

Scene 51, in which Aeriallas is finally introduced. She’s fishing at a lake, and Cirellio sits down nearby, staring at the reflection of the mountains in the water, and begins to talk with her about what’s been bothering him—something he’d never do at the beginning of the book.

This is another one of those scenes that gives me the feeling many of the characters in Five Rings are growing and maturing, and at their best during simple times like this.

  1. Nice count, and so early in the day (it’s only 9:30am here.)

I’m looking forward to my characters developing, though I have them pretty wholesome now. My story definitely comes into their lives as opposed to showing the beginning.

I just need to nail down some of those ‘tell’ details; those things that only this or that characters would do.

  3. Thanks, it was one of those super-productive days where I felt like I could do a million things. I read the Shakespeare play Othello, vacuumed the house, did the dishes, took out the dog, disassembled my laptop, and wrote those words all before 10:30 AM!
Now here it is the next day at 1:30 PM and I haven’t done anything yet. :P
