Another NPI

Merrilee Faber’s running another Novel-Push Initiative this month (Yes, she asked my permission first).

I decided to join—It’s always fun, and I’m kind of curious to see what it’s like to participate without having to worry about everyone else’s tallies.

It’s running from September 5th-26th, only 21 days in length. That’s another good reason to join because it’s not as much of a commitment as usual. And it’s a proven method that gets me in front of the computer each and every day, where I’ll edit after I finish my daily wordcounts. I’m gunning for 250 words per day—should be easy enough that I can continue sticking to my editing schedule.

All of the participant updates will be on Twitter with the hashtag: #novelpi

((So following along should be as easy as searching for “#novelpi” over at twitter.com.))

My lame idea:

It’ll probably never be published, but the project I’ll be working on is a fun idea; something that’s been brewing in my head ever since I saw the mockumentary ‘Behind the Mask’. I want to take a film crew and have them travel back in time so they can interview a cliché fantasy hero and chronicle his adventures (much to the chagrin of the general witch-hunting populace). The idea would be totally throw-away if I didn’t have a pretty good ending in mind. ;)

To prepare, I wrote out the full synopsis two days ago. I also wrote out the full synopsis of The Tragedy of Larimosa, which will be my project for NaNoWriMo in two months.

At any rate, I’ll be taking the plunge into NPI waters once again tomorrow. Wish me luck!

The full participant list can be found here.

  1. The signups were going to be for two days, but I think 15 is about all I can comfortably cope with on top of everything else. I didn’t expect so many people to sign up!

    Your idea sounds fun!

  2. Yeah, I can attest it’s tough enough to keep up with seven. And you have to do more than twice that! I think the hashtags should help a lot, though.

  3. Yes, twitter has made it lot easier to track daily words. And I have set up a spreadsheet, geek that I am, to check wordcounts and totals ;)
